Free Computer Racing Software

Below are my favorite downloads to help you engineer the perfect combination.

dload.gif - 26,008 bytes dragplus.zip - 323 KB (DOS version) Dragplus - This is the best analysis tool there is for the average enthusiast. After 2 or 3 trips to the drag strip you can tweak your car model to be very accurate. The only inaccuracy is the shift points (but look below).

dload.gif - 26,008 bytes sm.zip - 396 KB (DOS version) ShiftMaster - This program does a great job of optimizing shift points, gearing, and tire combinations. I find a dyno test in a magazine that is very similar to my combo then enter the numbers.

dload.gif - 26,008 bytes cartest.zip - 268 KB (DOS version) Car Test - This program is good for optimizing the launch rpm of your combination. The base program is set up for radials, play with the static and kinetic friction coefficients to make slicks work.

dload.gif - 26,008 bytes engine.zip - 29 KB (Excel version 4.0) Engine Spreadsheet - A program I wrote to help me perfect some combinations. Includes some great utilities. A sample of my current '82 Mustang is included to help you along.

dload.gif - 26,008 bytes cmselect.zip - 238 KB (DOS version) Wolverine / Blue Racer Cam Selection Software - The best cam selection software for the average builder. Also includes some decent utilities for further analysis. However if in doubt always contact your favorite manufacturer.

dload.gif - 26,008 bytes quest.zip - 267 KB (DOS version) Competition Cams Selection Software - A basic cam selection tool to get you in the ballpark.

cover DeskTop Dynos by Larry Atherton - This is the most compressive book ever written about software simulations and how they work. This book not only explains the interaction of parts selection on the simulation process but also explains how to select the best combination of parts for your application. I highly recommend this book to anyone using computer simulations for auto parts selection. This book also comes with a free copy of Mr. Gaskets Desktop Dyno software. Click on the book cover for more info.
